Spring Wine News

Hello Vinjoyment friends,

Spring has arrived for those of us in the Northern Hemisphere - and how good it feels to see the blossoms!

This is a crucial time of the year for the vines as it's when 'budburst' takes place, marking the start of the growing season. We're praying to all the weather gods for no spring frosts or destructive hail storms. And of course, in the Southern Hemisphere, the harvest season is well underway for many. We send our best vibes to all the growers who are part of this beautiful cycle!

We have exciting events coming up. Remember you can use YOUR DISCOUNT as a Vinjoyment friend - see below for more!

We look forward to seeing you soon - thank you for your support; it means the sun and the moon to us.

A Journey Through Central European Wines

Saturday 26 April, 3pm, Funky Cellar (Old Spitalfields Market)

Join us for a wine journey through Central Europe and discover the wonderful wines this super exciting region has to offer!

We have curated a fabulous lineup showcasing our favourite wines from Slovenia, Slovakia, Czech Republic and Hungary. This part of the world has a long and deep winemaking tradition (you can trace it back to the pre-Roman era!). Today, the combination of rich history and innovation has led to a well-deserved renaissance of these wines - and we're lucky to find them in the UK!

In true Vinjoyment style, we will share the stories of some of the fabulous winegrowers working in harmony with nature to produce fresh and alive wines. The lineup will be paired with delicious cheese from the Funky Cellar masters. Perfect for a spring afternoon.

No prior wine tasting experience required; this is an event for all levels of knowledge. Limited tickets available.

Note: You will also get 10% discount on selected cheeses and wines from Funky Cellar on the day. If you’re receiving this newsletter, please use the code LORENA10 for a 10% discount. We'd be so grateful if you could please share it with anyone who will enjoy this!

What we've been up to...

A fireside chat with Paula Sandoval from Cal Xurriu

One of my proudest moments so far in this Vinjoyment journey was being able to have an inspiring conversation with Cal Xurriu's Paula Sandoval, who travelled to London from Barcelona for this special night at Lady of the Grapes in Covent Garden.

This was a beautiful lesson on what passion and intuition can do. Agustí and Paula are known for their 'observative viticulture' approach, which means following what nature needs, rather than trying to influence it. They call themselves 'grape cookers' for the way in which they work in the vineyard (and it helps that Paula is also a very talented chef!).

Many of you asked where you could find the wines. I'm pleased to let you know that you will very soon be able to find them at Lady of the Grapes!

Thank you to everyone who joined us - together we made this happen :)

Wine fairs

The first quarter of the year was all about wine fairs, tastings and intensive learning (well, the latter doesn't ever end!).

We went to the iconic La Dive Bouteille in the Loire Valley, several fabulous tastings in London and more recently, to Le Nez dans le Vert in Arbois, Jura (wow oh wow).

We'd be able to talk for hours about the many, many wines we tried and enjoyed. However, what never ceases to amaze us is the deep commitment shown by the winemakers working in harmony with nature. We heard many stories of loss due to inclement weather and the constant adaptation required to make wine in these conditions without the use of chemicals. Nature -and wine- cannot be taken for granted, and so we're here to support and celebrate those who look after it and bring so much joy to our crazy world.
